Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM Lens

The canon rf 16mm lens delivers an ultra-wide 16mm perspective on full-frame Canon EOS R cameras, providing an expansive 108-degree diagonal field of view for architecture, interior, landscape, astrophotography, and creative wide-angle environmental portrait work.

An f/2.8 maximum aperture provides two stops of light advantage over f/5.6 kit lens alternatives at the 16mm ultra-wide focal length, enabling handheld shooting in low-light conditions and delivering usable depth of field control at the wide end.

The STM stepping motor delivers smooth and near-silent autofocus for both stills and video, supporting Dual Pixel CMOS AF on Canon EOS R cameras for reliable subject tracking and face detection across the full 16mm ultra-wide field of view.

Aspherical lens elements in the optical formula control the barrel distortion and field curvature inherent in ultra-wide angle design, maintaining straight lines and edge sharpness across the full image circle on full-frame and APS-C EOS R cameras.

Super Spectra multi-layer coatings on internal elements suppress flare and ghosting when shooting into or toward strong light sources within the expansive 108-degree ultra-wide field of view, maintaining contrast and color fidelity for landscape and interior work.

A dedicated control ring on the barrel can be assigned to aperture, ISO, or exposure compensation for direct parameter adjustment during shooting, making it convenient to change settings without navigating camera menus while composing wide-angle shots.

A compact and lightweight construction keeps this ultra-wide prime small and unobtrusive for travel, street, and landscape photography, making it one of the most portable wide-angle options in the Canon RF lens lineup for everyday carry.

Designed for the Canon RF mount and covering the full 35mm image circle, this lens is compatible with all Canon EOS R full-frame and APS-C mirrorless cameras, where it provides a 25.6mm equivalent focal length on APS-C bodies.
