Sony FE 16 35mm f/2.8 GM Lens

The sony 16 35mm f/2.8 GM opens to f/2.8 across the full ultra-wide zoom range, providing consistent light-gathering from the 16mm extreme wide end through to 35mm and enabling handheld shooting in low-light landscape, interior, and event conditions.

Three extreme aspherical elements, additional aspherical elements, and Extra-low Dispersion glass elements in the G Master optical formula control the distortion, field curvature, and chromatic aberration inherent in an ultra-wide f/2.8 zoom design.

Dual Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave Motors drive the focus group for fast and near-silent autofocus, with full compatibility with Sony's Real-time Eye AF and subject tracking systems across the full 16-35mm ultra-wide field of view for stills and video.

Nano AR Coating uses a nano-structured surface to minimize internal reflections more effectively than conventional multi-layer coatings, suppressing flare and ghosting when strong light sources appear within or near the expansive ultra-wide field of view.

Eleven rounded aperture blades produce smooth and near-circular out-of-focus highlights at f/2.8 and distinctive 11-point sunstars at small apertures, making this lens suitable for both creative landscape compositions and event photography.

A focus hold button on the barrel allows AF lock and custom function assignment, and a physical aperture ring with a de-click switch enables smooth and silent stepless aperture changes during video recording.

Extensive sealing at barrel joints, zoom ring, and the mount gasket, combined with fluorine coating on the front element, provides reliable dust and moisture resistance for outdoor landscape, architecture, and event shooting.

Designed natively for the Sony E-mount and covering the full 35mm image circle, this lens is compatible with all Sony Alpha full-frame mirrorless cameras. See the updated GM II version for improved optics and lighter weight.
