Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM Lens

The canon rf 85mm f/2 Macro opens to f/2, providing strong subject separation for portrait photography and enough light-gathering for indoor and event shooting without the size and weight of the f/1.2 version.

A 1:2 maximum magnification ratio enables close-up shooting of small subjects at half life size, making this lens a practical dual-purpose option for photographers who need both portrait and close-up capability in a single compact package.

The STM stepping motor delivers smooth and near-silent autofocus operation during video recording, supporting Dual Pixel CMOS AF subject tracking on compatible Canon EOS R cameras with minimal focus breathing at the macro end.

Hybrid IS combines shift and angular correction to compensate for the types of camera movement that most affect close-up and macro shooting, and coordinates with in-body IS on compatible EOS R bodies for effective multi-stop correction.

A single Ultra-Low Dispersion glass element controls lateral chromatic aberration across the focus range from infinity to the 1:2 macro minimum distance, maintaining color accuracy and edge sharpness throughout the focus travel.

Nine rounded aperture blades produce smooth out-of-focus highlights for portrait work at longer distances, while at macro distances the 1:2 magnification generates strong subject separation regardless of the aperture selected.

A control ring on the barrel allows direct assignment of aperture, ISO, or exposure compensation, providing immediate access to key settings without navigating the camera menu when switching between portrait and macro shooting.

Designed for the Canon RF mount and covering the full 35mm image circle, this lens is compatible with all Canon EOS R full-frame and APS-C mirrorless cameras, where it provides an effective 136mm focal length equivalent.
