Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM Lens

The canon rf 85mm 1.2 opens to f/1.2 at the classic portrait focal length, providing extreme subject isolation with minimal depth of field and a significant light-gathering advantage for indoor and low-light portrait sessions.

Canon's ring-type ultrasonic motor delivers fast and silent autofocus operation, with full-time manual focus override available at any point and compatibility with Dual Pixel CMOS AF subject tracking on all Canon EOS R cameras.

A Blue Spectrum Refractive optics element controls color fringing and longitudinal chromatic aberration at f/1.2 in a way that conventional glass elements cannot, improving out-of-focus color rendering and reducing colour blur in bokeh.

One Ultra-Low Dispersion element and one aspherical element complement the BR optics to further reduce chromatic aberration and field curvature across the frame, delivering sharp and accurate rendering from center to edge.

Air Sphere Coating on selected elements creates a layer of air between coating layers to reduce internal reflections from the sensor surface, suppressing flare and ghosting more effectively than conventional anti-reflection coatings alone.

Nine rounded aperture blades produce exceptionally smooth and circular out-of-focus highlights across the aperture range, delivering the creamy background separation and three-dimensional subject rendering expected from a premium portrait prime.

A dedicated control ring on the barrel can be assigned to aperture, ISO, or exposure compensation, enabling direct parameter adjustment during shooting without removing the eye from the viewfinder or interrupting composition.

Designed for the Canon RF mount and covering the full 35mm image circle, this lens is compatible with all Canon EOS R full-frame mirrorless cameras and exploits the short 20mm flange distance for a more advanced optical design.
