Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Lens

The canon rf 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM opens to f/1.8 at the versatile wide-angle focal length, providing strong light-gathering for street, travel, and environmental portrait photography while also enabling close-up shooting at the 1:2 macro magnification ratio.

A 1:2 maximum magnification ratio at a minimum focusing distance of 17cm allows close-up photography of small subjects at half life size, making this lens a practical dual-purpose wide-angle and macro option for photographers who want both capabilities without carrying two lenses.

The STM stepping motor delivers smooth and near-silent autofocus during video recording, supporting Dual Pixel CMOS AF on Canon EOS R cameras for reliable subject tracking and continuous AF, with minimal audible motor noise during movie capture.

The built-in Optical IS provides effective shake correction for handheld shooting at the 35mm wide-angle focal length, combining with in-body IS on compatible Canon EOS R cameras for multi-stop coordinated image stabilization for stills and video.

One Ultra-Low Dispersion element and one aspherical element manage chromatic aberration and field curvature from infinity focus through to the 1:2 macro minimum distance, maintaining consistent sharpness and color accuracy across the full focus range.

Super Spectra multi-layer coatings suppress internal reflections and control flare and ghosting when shooting toward strong light sources in the 35mm wide-angle field of view, maintaining image contrast for street and available-light photography.

A dedicated control ring on the barrel allows direct assignment of aperture, ISO, or exposure compensation for quick access during shooting, and the compact design keeps the lens proportional to the Canon EOS R camera body for comfortable everyday carry.

Designed for the Canon RF mount and covering the full 35mm image circle, this lens is compatible with all Canon EOS R full-frame and APS-C mirrorless cameras, providing a 56mm equivalent focal length on APS-C bodies like the EOS R10 and R50.
