Nikon AF S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Lens

The nikon 85mm f/1.8G opens to f/1.8 at the classic portrait focal length, providing strong subject separation, creamy background blur, and generous light-gathering for studio, available-light, and outdoor portrait photography on Nikon F-mount cameras.

The internal focus Silent Wave Motor delivers fast and near-silent autofocus across the full focus range, with full-time manual focus override available at any point without switching the camera or lens out of AF mode during a shoot.

One aspherical glass element and one Extra-low Dispersion element in the optical formula control spherical aberration, field curvature, and chromatic aberration at f/1.8, maintaining high sharpness and accurate color from center to edge of the frame.

Nikon's Nano Crystal Coat is applied to an internal element to suppress ghosting and flare caused by light reflecting between lens elements and the sensor surface, maintaining contrast and color fidelity in backlit portrait situations.

Nine rounded aperture blades produce smooth and circular out-of-focus highlights across the aperture range, delivering the creamy three-dimensional background rendering that makes this lens a trusted choice for professional portrait photographers.

The internal focus design keeps the overall lens length constant during focus travel and prevents the front element from rotating, allowing circular polarizing filters to maintain their orientation throughout the full focus range.

Designed for the Nikon F mount and covering the full 35mm image circle, this lens is compatible with all Nikon D-series DSLR cameras and with Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras via the Nikon FTZ II mount adapter.

A compact and lightweight construction for an f/1.8 telephoto prime makes this lens comfortable to carry and use during extended portrait sessions, wedding coverage, and event photography without adding significant bulk to the camera system.
