Description

canon rf 50mm 1.2 Specifications

Aperture

f/1.2 Maximum Aperture

The canon rf 50mm 1.2 opens to f/1.2, delivering a level of light-gathering and subject separation rarely available in a standard prime, enabling extremely shallow depth of field and handheld shooting in near-darkness conditions.

Autofocus

Ring-Type USM Autofocus

A ring-type ultrasonic motor provides near-instantaneous autofocus response with near-silent operation, and full-time manual focus override allows precise focus adjustment at any point without switching AF off on the camera.

Optical Design

One UD + One Aspherical Element

A combination of one Ultra-Low Dispersion element and one aspherical element controls chromatic aberration and field curvature at the wide f/1.2 aperture, maintaining sharpness across the image circle even wide open.

Bokeh Quality

10-Blade Rounded Diaphragm

Ten rounded aperture blades produce exceptionally smooth and circular out-of-focus highlights at f/1.2, providing the creamy bokeh and natural background separation that define a premium standard prime for portrait work.

Lens Coatings

Super Spectra Coating

Super Spectra multi-layer coatings suppress internal reflections between elements, minimizing flare and ghosting when shooting against strong light sources and maintaining color fidelity and contrast at wide apertures.

Controls

Customizable Control Ring

A dedicated control ring on the barrel allows direct assignment of aperture, ISO, exposure compensation, or shutter speed, providing immediate access to key settings without navigating the camera menu during a shoot.

Compatibility

RF-Mount / Full-Frame Format

Designed exclusively for the Canon RF mount with a 54mm inner diameter, this lens covers the full 35mm image circle and is fully compatible with all Canon EOS R full-frame mirrorless cameras.

Build Quality

Weather-Sealed Construction

Dust and moisture sealing at key barrel joints and a fluorine coating on the front element provide reliable protection in outdoor shooting conditions, reducing the risk of environmental damage during extended use.
