Sigma 50mm f/1.2 DG DN Art Lens (Sony E)

The sigma 50mm f/1.2 DG DN Art opens to f/1.2 at the standard 50mm focal length, providing the maximum light-gathering and subject isolation achievable from a native mirrorless standard prime, enabling extremely shallow depth of field and handheld shooting in near-darkness on Sony E-mount cameras.

The DG DN Art designation marks this as Sigma's highest-performance lens category designed natively for mirrorless mounts, using an optical formula optimized for the short Sony E-mount flange distance to achieve maximum resolution and minimum aberration at f/1.2.

A high-speed linear actuator focusing motor provides fast, precise, and near-silent autofocus operation, fully compatible with Sony's phase-detect Real-time Eye AF and subject tracking systems for reliable focus performance at f/1.2 where depth of field is extremely shallow.

Sigma's Fluorite-grade Low Dispersion, Special Low Dispersion, and multiple aspherical glass elements work together to control the severe spherical aberration, chromatic aberration, and field curvature inherent in an f/1.2 standard prime design.

Super Multi-Layer Coating on internal elements minimizes internal reflections and suppresses flare and ghosting when shooting backlit portrait subjects or in environments with multiple strong light sources in the 50mm field of view.

Eleven rounded aperture blades produce exceptionally smooth and near-circular out-of-focus highlights at f/1.2, delivering a level of background blur and three-dimensional subject rendering that distinguishes an f/1.2 prime from any f/1.4 or f/1.8 alternative.

Dust and splash resistant construction with a sealed rear mount gasket and fluorine coating on the front element provides protection during outdoor portrait sessions, events, and street photography in variable weather conditions.

Designed natively for the Sony E-mount and covering the full 35mm image circle, this lens is fully compatible with all Sony Alpha full-frame mirrorless cameras and exploits the short E-mount flange distance for an optimized optical design.
