Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM Lens

The sony 85mm f/1.4 GM opens to f/1.4 at the classic portrait focal length, providing strong subject isolation and significant light-gathering for studio, available-light, and outdoor portrait photography on Sony Alpha full-frame cameras.

One extreme aspherical (XA) element and three Extra-low Dispersion glass elements control field curvature, spherical aberration, and chromatic aberration at f/1.4, delivering sharp rendering and accurate color from center to edge.

The Linear Super Sonic Wave Motor provides near-instantaneous autofocus response with near-silent operation during video recording, supporting Sony's Real-time Eye AF and subject tracking via the phase-detect sensor across the full frame.

Nano AR Coating uses a nano-structured surface to minimize internal reflections between elements at a level beyond conventional multi-layer coatings, suppressing flare and ghosting to maintain contrast and color fidelity in backlit portrait situations.

Eleven rounded aperture blades produce exceptionally smooth and near-circular out-of-focus highlights across a wide range of aperture settings, delivering the soft and three-dimensional background rendering expected from a G Master portrait prime.

A dedicated focus hold button on the barrel can be assigned to camera functions, and the physical aperture ring allows direct f-stop selection with a de-click switch for smooth stepless aperture changes during video recording.

Sealing at barrel joints, the mount, and the focus ring provides dust and moisture resistance for reliable use in outdoor portrait sessions, events, and documentary work in variable weather conditions.

Designed natively for the Sony E-mount and covering the full 35mm image circle, this lens is fully compatible with all Sony Alpha full-frame mirrorless cameras and provides an equivalent 127.5mm focal length on APS-C bodies.
