Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS Lens

The sony 100 400mm covers a versatile telephoto zoom range from 100mm through to 400mm, providing the reach required for wildlife, sports, aviation, and bird photography in a single G Master lens compatible with all Sony Alpha full-frame cameras.

A variable maximum aperture of f/4.5 at 100mm to f/5.6 at 400mm represents an excellent balance between light-gathering performance and manageable lens size and weight for handheld telephoto shooting across the full zoom range.

The Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave Motor provides fast and near-silent autofocus with a focus range limiter switch that restricts AF search distance to reduce acquisition time when subjects are known to be within a specific range.

Optical SteadyShot image stabilization provides effective shake correction for handheld telephoto shooting at 400mm, coordinating with IBIS on compatible Sony Alpha cameras to extend the usable handheld shutter speed range.

One Super ED element and two standard ED elements control chromatic aberration and telephoto color fringing across the zoom range, maintaining color accuracy and contrast at all focal lengths from 100mm through 400mm.

Nano AR Coating suppresses internal reflections and flare at telephoto focal lengths, while fluorine coating on the front element repels water, dust, and fingerprints to maintain optical performance during outdoor shooting.

A zoom torque adjustment ring on the barrel lets photographers set the resistance of the zoom rotation to match their shooting style, preventing unintended zoom creep when shooting in vertical orientation or with the lens pointed upward.

Extensive dust and moisture sealing at barrel joints, zoom ring, focus ring, and mount provides reliable protection for extended outdoor use in wildlife and sports environments where conditions may change quickly.
