Tamron 20 40mm f/2.8 Di III VXD Lens for Sony E

The tamron 20 40mm covers a wide-to-standard zoom range from 20mm through 40mm in a compact and lightweight form factor, addressing landscape, street, documentary, and environmental portrait photography needs on full-frame Sony E-mount cameras.

A constant f/2.8 maximum aperture is maintained across the entire 20-40mm zoom range, providing consistent light-gathering and depth of field control from the 20mm wide end through to the 40mm standard position without adjusting exposure.

Tamron's VXD Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive linear motor delivers fast, precise, and near-silent autofocus operation, fully compatible with Sony's phase-detect Real-time Eye AF and subject tracking systems via native E-mount communication.

Low Dispersion, Glass Molded aspherical, and Extra Refractive Index glass elements work together to control chromatic aberration, field curvature, and distortion across the wide zoom range at the constant f/2.8 aperture.

Tamron's second-generation Broad-Band Anti-Reflection G2 coating covers a wider wavelength range than conventional multi-layer coatings, suppressing flare and ghosting in backlit conditions across the full 20-40mm zoom range.

At a compact size and weight significantly below comparable 20-40mm f/2.8 zoom designs, this lens is well suited for travel, street, and documentary photographers who need constant f/2.8 performance in a lens that pairs naturally with compact mirrorless bodies.

Moisture-resistant construction at barrel joints and a fluorine coating on the front element protect the lens during outdoor shooting in light rain and dusty environments, reducing the need for additional weather protection during field use.

Designed natively for the Sony E-mount and covering the full 35mm image circle, this lens is compatible with all Sony Alpha full-frame mirrorless cameras and delivers an equivalent 30-60mm focal range on APS-C E-mount bodies.
