Description

Focal Length

24-70mm Standard Zoom Range

The sony 24 70mm GM II covers the essential wide-to-short-telephoto standard zoom range from 24mm through 70mm in the second-generation G Master design, addressing landscape, portrait, event, and documentary photography needs in a single premium Sony E-mount zoom.

Aperture

f/2.8 Constant Aperture

A constant f/2.8 maximum aperture is maintained across the full 24-70mm zoom range, providing consistent light-gathering, depth of field control, and subject separation from wide to telephoto, making this the definitive professional standard zoom for Sony Alpha cameras.

Autofocus

Four XD Linear Motor Units AF

Four eXtreme Dynamic linear motor units drive the focus group for dramatically faster autofocus response compared to the first-generation GM, with near-silent operation and full compatibility with Sony's Real-time Eye AF and subject tracking systems.

Optical Design

Two XA + Multiple Aspherical + ED Elements

Two extreme aspherical elements, multiple additional aspherical elements, and Extra-low Dispersion glass elements in the second-generation optical formula deliver improved corner sharpness and reduced flare compared to the first-generation GM.

Lens Coatings

Nano AR Coating II

The second-generation Nano AR Coating II further reduces internal reflections compared to the original Nano AR coating, providing improved flare and ghosting suppression at all focal lengths across the 24-70mm zoom range in backlit conditions.

Bokeh Quality

11-Blade Rounded Diaphragm

Eleven rounded aperture blades produce exceptionally smooth and near-circular out-of-focus highlights at f/2.8, delivering G Master-quality background rendering across the full 24-70mm zoom range for portrait and event photography.

Build Quality

Dust and Moisture Resistant

Comprehensive sealing at all barrel joints, rings, and the mount gasket provides dust and moisture resistance, with a fluorine coating on the front element repelling water, dust, and oil for reliable outdoor event and portrait use.

Controls

Focus Hold Button + Aperture Ring

A focus hold button provides AF lock and custom function assignment, and a physical aperture ring with a de-click switch enables smooth and silent stepless aperture control during video production across the full zoom range.
