Sony FE 16 35mm f/2.8 GM II Lens (Sony E)

The sony 16 35mm GM II covers an ultra-wide zoom range from 16mm through 35mm with constant f/2.8 aperture, providing expansive field-of-view options for landscape, architecture, interior, astrophotography, and environmental portrait work on full-frame Sony Alpha cameras.

A constant f/2.8 maximum aperture across the full 16-35mm range provides strong light-gathering and subject separation at the ultra-wide focal lengths, with two stops of light advantage over f/5.6 and enabling handheld shooting in low-light conditions.

Four Linear Super Sonic Wave Motors drive the focus group for fast, precise, and near-silent autofocus operation, with full compatibility with Sony's Real-time Eye AF and subject tracking systems across the wide field of view.

Multiple XA extreme aspherical elements, additional aspherical elements, and ED glass elements control the optical distortion, field curvature, and chromatic aberration inherent in ultra-wide zoom design at f/2.8.

Nano AR Coating II uses an advanced nano-structure surface treatment that further reduces internal reflections compared to the first-generation coating, suppressing flare and ghosting when shooting toward strong light sources in the wide 16mm field of view.

Eleven rounded aperture blades produce smooth and near-circular out-of-focus highlights at f/2.8, providing more pleasing bokeh rendering than is typical for an ultra-wide zoom and delivering attractive sunstar patterns at small apertures.

Extensive sealing at all barrel joints, the zoom ring, and the mount gasket, combined with fluorine coating on the front element, provides reliable dust and moisture resistance for outdoor landscape and architectural shooting in variable conditions.

A focus hold button on the barrel allows quick AF lock assignment, and the physical aperture ring provides direct f-stop selection with a de-click switch for smooth and silent aperture changes during video production.
