Description

smallrig rhinoceros cage Specifications

Design Concept

Rhinoceros Basic Cage Kit Design

The smallrig rhinoceros cage is engineered to fit the Sony A7R V, A7 IV, and A7S III camera bodies in a shared-fit cage design, providing full-surround aluminum protection and a comprehensive accessory mounting grid while maintaining complete access to all camera controls, ports, and the battery compartment.

Mounting Points

Dense 1/4-Inch + 3/8-Inch Mounting Grid

The smallrig rhinoceros cage features a dense grid of 1/4-inch-20 and 3/8-inch-16 threaded mounting holes on all cage surfaces, allowing simultaneous installation of top handles, side monitor arms, front accessories, and bottom quick-release or rod systems for a complete multi-accessory production rig.

Accessory Mounting

Multiple Cold Shoe + NATO Rails

Multiple cold shoe and NATO rail mounts on the top and sides of the smallrig rhinoceros cage provide additional dedicated mounting positions for wireless audio receivers, microphone mounts, LED video lights, and monitor accessories alongside the camera's built-in Multi-Interface shoe.

Quick Release

Arca-Swiss Compatible Baseplate

The smallrig rhinoceros cage integrates an Arca-Swiss compatible dovetail baseplate for direct mounting to Arca-Swiss tripod heads and quick-release clamps, enabling fast camera transitions between tripod, gimbal, and shoulder rig configurations without cage removal between setups.

Rod System

15mm LWS Rod Port

A 15mm LWS rod port on the base of the smallrig rhinoceros cage supports standard lightweight cinema rails for follow focus systems, matte boxes, and lens support accessories, enabling a full 15mm lightweight cinema rig configuration on the Sony A7R V, A7 IV, or A7S III.

Port Accessibility

Full Sony Port and Slot Access

The smallrig rhinoceros cage maintains unrestricted access to all A7R V, A7 IV, and A7S III ports including the full-size HDMI connector, USB-C port, 3.5mm audio inputs, Multi-Interface shoe, and CFexpress Type A and SD memory card slots without cage disassembly or modification.

Build Quality

CNC Aluminum Alloy Construction

The smallrig rhinoceros cage is CNC-machined from aluminum alloy, providing a strong and lightweight frame that adds minimal weight to the Sony A7-series body while delivering the structural rigidity required for reliable multi-accessory mounting in professional production environments.

System Compatibility

SmallRig Ecosystem Compatible

The smallrig rhinoceros cage is fully compatible with the SmallRig accessory ecosystem including top handles, monitor mounts, follow focus systems, and rod accessories, supporting a complete modular rig build for the Sony A7R V, A7 IV, and A7S III using a single accessory system.
